Has anyone seen this??? For the second time in as many weeks, I have opened an assembly that has not been worked on for some time, and found a part suppressed. When I unsurpressed the part, it is a part that does not belong in this assembly. I did not put it there. This is the second time this has happened. The first time I just assumed it was a fluke. This time, I'm not so sure.

Nope. We do not have duplicate part names. This part did not replace a part in the assembly.

No one overwrote a part file. The offending part is a legitimate part, just not a part in this assembly. I have done a "where used" (in our Enterprise system). It is correctly used in another, unrelated assembly. The offending part is an ADDITIONAL part that has been inserted into the assembly model. If I delete the part, the assembly is correct.

Run a Where Used search on the offending assy to see if it is being referenced in another assy. Someone using it in that other assy may have accidentally or purposely inserted the part.
Is/was the part mated in place or just left floating?

The offending part has just one mate (parallel) to a face of the main housing of the assembly. It is clear in the attached picture, what part does not belong.

Is that part, by any chance, an external reference used while building the assy?
Do a "Find References" and check if the offending part is in the "Folder for referenced documents" ( The path specified in "Tools-> Options-> File Locations").

My first guess would be that the bad part has the same file name as the good part but the bad part is being found by the SolidWorks search algorithm first.
