I get an error message when trying to save my SW settings to a backup file. It reads:
Cannot load SolidWorks settings information from 'chad'.
Can't open private hive
I'm just winging it here, but is it a problem with your privileges? Are you an administrator on your machine?
How are your Windows User Access Control set?
your profile says you are on 2009, if so can I give you the not very helpful "That is not supported" answer?
I believe all the copy settings wizard does is export the key for you.. can you export the reg key manually?

This works for backing up my own settings, but I need to create a standard system options that another user can import, without having to use all my keyboard shortcuts, etc.
Is there a portion of this key that would do that?
Yes, I realize this is not a supported setup
yes, there is... I don't know it though
It's coming to me now...
1. Backup his settings using Copy Settings.
2. Apply my registry key.
3. Restore his keyboard and menu customization settings using Copy Settings again.
