Just FYI, I see 2010 SP1 posted for download at this time.
One would assume the delay is because SolidWorks is taking the time to get the SP done right. SolidWorks can take as much time as they need.
We all complain when SW releases crummy Service Packs and ask them to slow down the release pace.
And we complain when SolidWorks takes a bit of extra time to get it right.
Being the schizophrenic bunch of designers and engineers we all are at times.
From my experience, for each version of SolidWorks, I now make it a practice to wait until SP 3.0 is available before upgrading. I am now on SW2009 SP 5.0 (x64) which will remain unchanged until SW2010 SP3.0 (x64) is released.
Of course, the upgrade does not occur until mid-way through the year, but at least my system is stable! IMHO, the software bugs are not worth the frustration of an upgrade during the first few service packs.
I was hoping that some issues I was having with 2009 would be in the past with 2010, especially with the performance gaines we heard so much about. Since most of our parts a very basic in nature we decided to move to 2010 initial release. Most releases get better and better as they go. Sorry to say but I really don't see much of a gain. I do see more "not responding from this release" I ususally wait till the PC catches up.
I have already made plans to upgrade my entire system, but will see if 2010 improves with service packs. As I have said in the past - it's to bad they break things to fix other things! Then again EV really stands for beta version 5,6,7...etc!
Once you do upgrade your system the performance gains promised will mysteriously show up.
Little know fact, SW requires brand new (faster) hardware to get the performance gains they promise........
ya, no kidding, where is it?
there is one serious bug fix that i am needing and that is the issue of design tables randomly resetting dimension values to be the same for all configs.
is the reason for ev so user can be the testers to determine if the bug are truly fixed?
Yes, EV is for us to test drive for major bugs before going out to the entire SolidWorks community.
Ask and yea shall receive.
Looks like SW just posted it today. I'm sure our notifications e-mails will be along shortly.
I've followed the links to do an upgrade, but the webpage doesn't show me the link to the SP1.0 installation... I've tried both IE and Firefox to do this..
Not sure why you are not seeing it. It is listed when I go look. This is in IE8.
I just finished updating my system a couple minutes ago.
I've worked out why I couldn't see the download links. I had to go through 'Register my products' first, and then it unlocked the download links..
