Tube end forming tool?

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a tool in SW that allows you to apply a forming operation, such as flattening, to the end of tubes in your weldments. Anything? How do you usually take care of this is you need to flatten the ends of a tube?

This would be a very nice feature! Good idea Gabi!

I don't think SW has it today (at least I have not seen it) but I would really like the idea to be able to choose to press the tube ends to enable easier welding against the vertical round pipe.

If this feature doesn't exist, lets encourage SW with enhancement request

Thanks, Kevin! It is a great tutorial!

I was wondering, though, as I watched the video. Ben says he practically had to go and measure the tube, the flat end and all. If I'm designing something and I don't have a flat tube available, I won't be able to do that. Is there a formula somewhere that can give me an aproximation to the dimensions of the formed tube end?

There may be a formula somewhere, but if you maintain the centre-thickness circumference 'length' of the tube in the flattened portion, you should be close enough.
