I can't get simple plates used to make an angle bracket generate a cut list.
Does the cut list feature only work on structual members?
What if I want to add a tap pad to a tubing frame?

Are these plates part of a larger weldment model?
If so, you can add properties so they come up in the cut list. Under the property manager go to cut list and expand. Under that you find the item you inserted and right click. Select properties and edit. I'm not sure if you'll be able to add dims in the cut list or not but you can add the description. (This is assuming you inserted plates from another part file)

To get the cut list to fill in the info automatically the plate or anything has to be created from a profile from your library.

You can manually input the info into the cutlist item for inserted parts or extrudes etc by doing as Daniel suggested. You can also use dimensions from the model in the cutlist properties (for example if you wanted the length for a plate to show up) by selecting the property and then just double clicking the body. This will bring up the dimensions from that body and you can then select them to use in the cutlist. These dims will then update with the model.

Also if you don't use any profiles (structural member command) in your weldment you can still create a blank cutlist by going to the insert menu and selecting weldment. This will create a cutlist that can be filled in manually.

Lorne, this is a feature I'd love to know more about.
I have just tried this.
I opened a weldment, made from a group of extrudes and formed into a cutlist where each item had no properties.
I opened the cut list properties box for an item, added the new property "length"
as a "text" type, but double clicking on the body, either in the image of the part or in the expanded cut list did not bring up any dims from the body.
The body is a simple extrude, rectanglar, no holes etc.

Are you able to post the video from an RX of this proceedure?
I have attached the file I tried it on.

Here is a quick demo. Let me know if you have any questions. The length property can be a little tricky. You can see how I did it in the video with a reference dimension. Sometimes you have to get creative.

However when I clicked on the body, it highlited, but no dims came up.
probally a setting somewhere, I'll go look
