We do the exact same thing here. I asked our VAR about this and was told there was nothing we could do. If anyone has a solution I would be very interested to see it.
Enhancement request!<br /><br />I set up the part number, using the use configuration name, and it displayed what I wanted but when it was called into the drawing the <AS MACHINED> part was tagged on.<br /><br />Spoke to my VAR and they agreed it was a bug, but the <AS ..> bit was part of the configuration name, it was the display that was wrong when setting it up.
Check this and new configurations will no longer have the "AS MACHINED" etc added on.
Unfortunately I can not get it apply to previous configs or models. So if anyone can work it out please tell. Ohbtw I can not find any reference to it in my help files and it's not a big enough change to get in the what's new?
Roy,<br />After you check <br />"Disable additional weldment configuration description strings" <br />in System Options, you can rename the configurations and just delete the <AS MACHINED> String,
Here is a quick little macro to turn this setting on and off as you may need it. When I model weldments - I like to have the default config with the <as machined> and <as welded> strings shown. But when I create other config, I don't want them shown.<br />I start the model with this option disabled and then enable it when I start creating the user configurations. So I made this macro, so I can just hit on the fly to switch this setting.<br /><br />If anyone is interested, here ya go.<br /><br />Ben Conners<br />SW 2008 SP4.0
Our drawing template pulls the configuration name into the part no. field.
See attached weldment for reference.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
