I see I thought that you just wanted to insert a weldment into an assembly. You could try and go insert <component <new part then you can create a sketch and make your weldment as a virtual part.<br /><br />I have not done this before so I don't know if this will cause other issues.<br /><br />Lorne
Here is how I made a "routing feature" for a customer that only had Standard SolidWorks.
1. Create new assembly 2. Insert parts you like 3. Save assembly
... and now the trick...
4. Insert New part into the assembly 5. Create a 3D sketch where you can snap to the assembly components (In context editing). Make sure you draw solid lines and not construction line. 6. Exit 3D sketch 7. Insert Weldments (still in edit new part mode!) by chosing the lines you inserted with your 3D sketch.

A weldment is a part.
Just as you would when creating a part, but from inside the assembly drawing.
It would have been a quick fix for where I wanted to add one if it were possible.
