In the weldment cutlist if I have a quantity of 4 W12x53 beams in one row, and they show in the weight column for a single beam. Can I show the weight for all four beams instead?
That is what I am doing now, but what I want is not as simple as sorting by a single column. I like to have my cutlist listed primarly by member size and length and plates last. I want a W12x84 listed before a W8x40. What I do is add a dummy column for my item numbers that I split off and move off the drawing. I then sort tis column.
I just do not understand why the cutlist does not have all of the functionality of the BOM. BOM if you want item 10 to be item 3 you just drag it to the new position.
FYI about sorting there is a SPR. SPR 596853 : Sorting pipe length column (Routing automatic pipe length) in Bill of Material (BOM) does not sort correctly.
You can ask your reseller to be added to the list so you'll be notified when it's fix.
You can try SW2009. I have played with it some and it allows you to show cutlist members in a assembly BOM. This may solve your problem. I am waiting for a couple service packs to come out before I implement it in production but there are alot of possitive I see with it.
We had the same problem and we ended up writing a macro that added a "Total Weight" as a custom property to each item in the cut-list. You can then add a new column in your cut-list to reflect "Total Weight". Once you update your cut-list in the part - just run the macro, then you will see a new custom item in your Properties. Let me know if I have confused you.....
Let me know if it works... BTW - the equation method stinks - you have to do each item at a time and sometimes the equation goes to pot.....at least for us anyway.
Just open the part in questions, then go to TOOLS, MACRO, RUN then pick on the attached macro. It only takes a second or two. Now go back to your cut-list (in the part) and rt-click on any of your bodies and it should then contain a TOTAL WEIGHT property. Let me know.
You will have to create an equation and multiply the weight by the quantity. My second biggest complaint about the weldment cutlist is that you cannot create an equation for an entire column. You can only do it one cell at a time. FYI, my biggest complaint is you cannot reorder items in the cutlist.
Hi, with SW2011 you can now!

hello John Lega, I had the same problem about cut list "Total Weight".
can you give me "the macro that added a "Total Weight" as a custom property to each item in the cut-list"?
my email : liuyc@yidasf.com
thank you very much.
Steve
Hi John, We're running into this same issue. Could you share that macro with us? Thanks!
