Automatic Cutting Lists

I'm trying to create automatically generated cutting list of timber cabinets.

Each cabinet is a single part with each piece of the cabinet being a separate body.

Can I create these cutting lists from a single part or does it have to be an assembly?

I seem to remember seeing a tutorial where a cutting list folder was in the feature tree. Is this the way to go about it?

Appreciate any help.

John,

Are you using weldments. If yes then cut list is generated within the part file. If not then look in help/ SW tutorial for how to use/work with Weldments.

Hello Deepak
I've had a go at using the weldments.
What i'm having trouble with is inserting the values for each item, such as Length Width and Depth. How can i link these values from the model so i dont have to manually populate the table and to make it update automatically?

Use Weldment Cut list in the drawing.

Insert>Table>Weldment Cut List.

I can Insert the weldmwnts cut list table no problems
the problem i'm having is getting the values of the length width thickness of each body into the table
do i need to i link a custom property to a value in a sketch or feature? and i so how do i do this?

It should come automatic. I tried one sample file and its working fine. Can you upload a sample part and drawing file to look at.

woodworking poses some unique obstacles when using weldments.

this was discussed earlier in a different post. see below.
woodworking cutlist using weldments

a weldment cutlist works like this,
the 2D library profile contains 2 of the dimensions, typically height & width.
the weldment sketch path is the third dimension, typically the length.

for timber framed or stud framed homes this works great, but for cabinetry it's not quite as efficient.
the problem children are plywood and raised panels (glued boards).

if you follow the link above you will find an attachment i posted demonstrating one possible method.
