Flatten a cylinder?

Is it possible to flatten a part of cylindrical type? I have attached a screenshot. I tried to Insert Bend, picked face on end of cylinder, then proceeded to execute the Flatten command, but got rebuild errors.

Select straight edge, then Insert --> Sheet Metal --> Bends

before you add the holes, add the bend, selct the edge you want to flatten form, then do a unfold, add the holes,then fold again...then it should work.

  I did try rolling back the model to the point before the holes were added, then doing an Insert Bend, but still no luck. I attached another screenshot that shows how this extrude was created thinking that may have something to do with it. It was extruded using a Thin Feature and not a profile.

    Instead of creating a regular solid and then converting to SM, why not create the part as a SM part?
