legacy files in pv360

why cant you use the legacy files in pv 360? you can if applied in solidworks, but can the be applied from pv 360 too?

Correct Answer

The appearance files for PV360 are different. PV360 is a sub-set of the software package Modo by Luxology. Their file formats and coding is different then what SW/PhotoWorks uses.

The PV360 materials and such were built for PV360 by Greg Leuenberger by taking what is in SW/PW and re-creating in Modo then saved out and stripped down a bit more for PV360.

Greg I don't think that PV360 can open any other file format other than SolidWorks. The bets will be to open those legacy files in SW and then save as SW part or assy file and then open in PV360.

  sorry, didnt make it clear.
  in the appearance folder within solidworks is a folder called Legacy. in this folder are some different appearances like trees etc. why cant these be applied from within pv360?
  does this make sense??

    The reason can be the programming codes. PV360 might not have the codes to pick the extra appearances and I can't find any setting to add my own appearances which can be done easily in SW.

      seems a bit daft you cant use them when the format of these files are the same as the other appearances.
