I am inserting a part into a new assembly by clicking the green tick so that the part's origin will be at the assembly's origin, but the part is not going in at the correct position. I have encountered this problem several times in the past and have not found a resolution, has any one else had the same problem and if so, is there a fix.

Does your part start on Origin i.e. is the starting point is 0,0,0. Can you post a sample part and assembly having this issue.
I have only SW2009 , so if you are running SW2010, then save the assembly as parasolid.
Turn on the display of the status bar. View -> Status Bar
This is an old issue and should be fixed by now. What version and service pack of SolidWorks are you running?

This problem was report in SW2009, but I remember that was present from SW2000.
It's absurd that this problem is still present on SW2010.
I think that SolidWorks is full of bugs much more 'at risk' lynching that these types of issues are sidelined.
