Two error messages, cannot open a new file

I have just installed SW 2009 x64 Edition SP3.0 on a HP Pavilion dv9000 running vista x64.

Every time I try to open the program, i get an error:

A journal file could not be created. Auto recover will not work. Another

session of SolidWorks may already be running on this machine.

I saw somewhere that this might have to do with not having .Net framework 3.0 installed, but I have .net 3.5, shouldn't that work fine?

Also, I can ignore that error message, but as soon as i try to open a new file, an error occurs and solidworks tries to restart and send off a performance log to solidworks/microsoft etc.

The strange part is that i was able to open a new file ONCE, and it asked me for some settings, I'm not sure if something I did or did not do in there may have caused a problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but the errors continue.

Any help regarding either problem would be GREATLY appreciated.
