how to calculate if a weld is strong enough

Hi,

If I have a lifting lug 200mm wide x 500mm long x 50mm thick and it is welded central to beam with a 10mm fillet all round. What is the maximum weight of the beam it can lift before the weld fails. Or how do I calculate the maximum strength of a particular fillet weld.

Can this calculation be done in SolidWorks, as weld beads are cosmetic how can I find out if a weld will fail under load.

As you can guess i am not a Structural Engineer just curious.

Thanks
