Hi, I've been toying with photoworks environment images to change the lighting conditions. yet there are always "black spots" on my renderings no matter how I place my object. I supposse that is due to my placement and the dark parts of the image used.
How can I create a "light box" environment where minimal "dark spots" will be captured?
I create jewelery and watches and darkspots destroy the images.
Help? thanks!
What environment images are you using?
Photoworks > Scene > Scene Editor > Environment tab > Browse...
Try using the "All White Studio.hdr" environment image.
If you use something like the "backdrop with overhead spotlight" or "black studio" you can control the rotation of the environment with the Environment Rotation option directly above the Browse button in Scene Editor.
How is your model oriented? In the Room tab of the Scene Editor, make sure your model is oriented correctly so that the environment floor corresponds to the base of your part, otherwise the "horizon" of the environment image will be going the wrong way (i.e. vertically)
Finally, if you want to create your own environment, learn how to create a HDR file in Photoshop (or other image editing program with HDR tools). A HDR file is basically and image file with a larger gamut of colour than an ordinary 8-bit image (jpg, gif, tif, png, etc). For a simple environment such as what you are after you would create 3 or more ordinary images simulating the environment at different exposures, and then stack them in Photoshop to create the HDR file.

Alternatively you could try a program like HDR Light Studio to automatically create realistic HDR photographic studio environments:
