How to preset draft angle in Draft Analysis?
The default is 3° and I want to set it to 1° and have it as a default
I don't think you can set that as default. I haven't been able to find it.
This is hard coded into the software according to Solidworks. According to Solution ID S-019181, see the following.
The draft angle value is defaulted to 1 per session, but within a session the last value is remembered. Please feel free to submit an enhancement request to our website if you want this behavior to be changed. Enhancement requests are handled by the Product Definition team and should be submitted directly to them via the following form on the SolidWorks web site:http://www.solidworks.com/pages/services/subscription/Enhancements.htm
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the updates. But I never saw that value as 1deg.
What Version/SP are you running? That could be a very old Solution ID and it may have been incorperated in a newer release.
You don't post here what your default value is on a new session. Upon further reseach, the default should be 1 degree and I've confirmed this on a new install of 2009 SP4.1 (clean). From a review of this I cannot find a location in the registry to change this value. Can you start a new sessions of Solidworks and send a screen shot of your default value. Also export HKLM\Software\SolidWorks and HKCU\Software\Solidworks and ZIP them up and attach to this post?
my preset draft angle is 3 deg too. ( solidworks 2010)
Yep, this was my fault. I was looking at regular draft and not draft analysis. I will look into this quick and let you know what I can find. I'll post a response soon.
I'm don't have admin rights, but if I go to start>run, then type in regedit, I can get to the registry.
I may be wrong, but everything I am seeing is that this is hardcoded into the .dll for analysis. The .dll is: sldanalysistoolsu.dll
Sorry I don't think this is possible. Contact your VAR to have them submit an SR to verify if you want to pursue further.
The default value is 3 and it doesn't remember that you've swtiched it to 1 because I've tried it.
Yeah, that Solution ID was for Draft itself, I was looking into the wrong command. I followed it up with testing draft analysis and my comments are attached to post.
My install defaults to 1° (SW2009-SP4.1)
No, the screen is working fine.
Yep, screen seems to function how it should...
The one you provided though is for the standard draft command. The default value for that is 1 and according to SW it should remember the last value for the active session (not on restarts).
The area they are talking about for 3degress is for draft analysis tools. Check this one, it should be on the Mold Tools toolbar.
I believe the value is there. I checked on different machine and found under HKCU\Solidworks\General (not sure about path) that Mold Draft angle is set to 3 deg. (converted to radians). Don't have right to change the value though. Can someone check.
Did you set your profile to hide name as I'm seeing a number and not a name.
Under HKCU\Software\Solidworks the only values that exist for Mold Draft are these:
Line 986: "Mold Draft Pos Color"=dword:0000ff00 Line 987: "Mold Draft Neg Color"=dword:000000ff Line 991: "Mold Draft Straddle Color"=dword:00ff0000 Line 992: "Mold Draft No Draft Color"=dword:0000ffff Line 993: "Mold Draft Pos Steep Color"=dword:00349659 Line 994: "Mold Draft Neg Steep Color"=dword:00ab5e34 Line 995: "Mold Draft Sheet Color"=dword:00c0c0c0
And thats in this path: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2009\General]
Now this value does exist: "MoldDraftAngle"="0.05235987755983"
Changing it doesn't affect the value in the Draft Analysis tool. I set it to: 1 degree in radians.
There is also a value under HKLM for this and that one doesn't affect it either.
