Hi there, I am wanting to create the flat pattern, laser cut part of the attached variable gradient helix. It is basically 200x5 flat coming into a helix at 25.5° and exiting at 19°. The main bit I am after is the hellical part and its true flatterned shape. I can do it for constant gradient throughout the helix i.e. same gradient going in as coming out but seem to be stumped with this one. Any ideas?

Use the Lofted Bend between two helices.
The example isn't quite the same as yours, but could be tweaked to suit by offsetting the base circle of one of the helices.
That file crashes SW. Can you upload it again?

I believe the problem is at your end.
I just downloaded the file, unzipped and opened it on two separate machines, without a problem.
See if the one posted here is better;
This one works fine. The other one locks up SW on both of our machines.
The gremlins must be back this week.

The one that worked for you was either SW10 or 11 version. The one that crashed your system is SW13 version.
Which version are you running?
SW2012. But usually I just get a message that I am trying to open a newer file. Maybe this is the new way to encourage upgrades.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but how do you do it on any helix?
