Datum won't align to dimension

Occasionally, when I go to add a datum to a dimension on a drawing, the datum will align itself at a right angle to the dimension. (See attached screencap.) One earlier post indicates that this has been reported as SPR 391062. Does anyone else bump into this? I've seen a "work around" of sketching a line for the datum to attach to, but that's pretty clunky. Anyone have a better solution? Or a way to get SW to fix this?
