Form New Sub-Assembly Here, how to keep Top Level Mates?

Is there a way of defining conponents on a Top Level Assembly and the performing a "Form New Sub-Assembly Here" and keep the components on the new sub-assembly referencing the Top Level for positioning?

The purpose of the new sub-assembly (Sub- Assembly A: Conveyors Blue and Purple) is only to include the componentes required to design a chute in-context without having to work on the top level. Sub-Assembly A will dissolved on the Top Level so that Conveyor Purple can be used to create Sub-Assembly B (Conveyor Purple and Green) to design their corresponding transition in-context.

any comments or suggestion will be much appreciated.
