I have looked to see if this issue exists in the forum, but could not find a definitive answer.
What seems to be a random issue, I will set my Shaded and draft quality resolution to an appropriate level. Then at some point during the same session, the level will drop to the lowest setting.
I've read that you change the level in the templates to maintain the level, but I this does not seem to work either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Exactly the same problem here.
Did you guys find a solution to this?
Its an age-old problem. no fix i know of.
Hi Greg,
This didn't happen in 2007, just when I upgraded to 2010.
A bit of a spurious bug, but getting frustrating!
I started a thread on this very same issue and as you will see I didn't get any solutions.
This happened more at my old job then my current so far. The only work around that brought some relief
was if my parts that decided to go hexial on me were in an assembly I would change the image quality
inside of the assembly and the parts would seem to stick with the hight image quality just by doning a ctrl Q.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Scott, I will give it a try.
Tried your workaround, but didn't really help.
I have managed to replicate the problem, but this only happens on a few parts, in certain assemblies.
To me it seems that it is coming from some sort of drawing bug.
What I do to replicate the problem is:
open the part and assembly that the part is in, and create a drawing of the assembly.
Go to the part and change or edit a feature.
Go to the drawing and rebuild it.
Go back to the part, and change or edit a feature....this is when my parts go to the lowest quality setting (hex).
As I said, it only happens in certain parts and assemblies, but I am sure the drawing rebuild causes the error?
Not sure if this will help, but I am at my wits end with this problem.
Stuart, have you looked at the threads in the "more like this" box at the top right of this thread? i am sorry to sound so gloomy but this is a often found problem, with no known cure.
Hi Greg,
I have looked through all the threads about this issue, and don't know why this has not been sorted out?
How do you go about getting an spr through?
I have attatched a video showing the problem I am having.

Stuart,
I have never seen this as reproducable as this! does it do it on all parts if you follow this workpath or just some parts? you need to send this to your var, with the parts and they will do a spr for you.
I have this problem, but it is very random, so never worried about it too much.
Stuart, you could also go to the customer portal and choose enchancement requests. then do a search for the problem, if you dont find anything you will then be asked to create a new one, which will then be turned into a spr by solidworks.
Greg,
It does this on all parts in this assembly, and some others.
Some assemblies seem to be ok.
I will send this to my var.
ok, thanks Greg.
Stuart,
It didn't work 100% for me, but I can tell you it cut down the amount of times it did happen.
Now what is weird is at my previous job this is the method I used because like you it happened
all the time and I was at my wits end as well. I have brought my settings from there to my new
job and it has happened very seldom here.
But, both times it was with 2010. Never had this issue with 2009 or previous.
I think like Greg suggested you should go on the customer portal and put in an enhancement request.
I like you think this is a bug, but with that said I was using SP 3.1 and below there versus SP 4.0 here.
Maybe something to be said about that.
Hi Scott,
Thanks for the reply.
I am using 2010 sp 4.0, and this didnt happen on 2007.
I have put a bug request to my var, hopefully something will happen.
I have found that 2010 is not nearly so stable as the previous versions I have used.
Thank you!!!!!
I have said that numerous times about the stability of 2010 but have been told
every version has its quarks. I don't buy it and still stand by that 2010 is very unstable.
This isn't the only weird bug I have found. I have seen some duzzys with this release.
I have been told that they are working on this bug, and it will be released in SP 5.
We are still having this problem in 2011, so I doubt this was ever adressed. Are others still having this problem?
Same here. SW2011 SP1
This is not an enhancement issue; this is an error! A major error,
Nothing is going to improve until SWs start losing customers.
Yep, I'm having the same problem with SW 2011 SP.3 64bit. Didn't have the problem at all on my old 32bit computer, but now that I've upgrade to 64bit and running windows 7.
Just started happening to me too having upgraded from 20011 SP3 to SP4...tends to happen when I selection section view, quite annoying really and surprised to hear that it seems to be an inherent legacy bug in the software...
Same problem here, using SWX Pro, SP4 x64 Ed., really annoying problem to have. Can't predict when it happens, but been doing it to me in 2010 and 2011 versions.
This is still happening to me, now on SW 2012 win7 64 bit.
Very randon, but happening quite a lot, edit a part, and it goes to the lowest quality possible.
Happens to me, too. I'll set it to high resolution and save it. Then if I open it, whether within an assembly or by itself, it will set it back to low resolution. What a pain. I have to go to options and change it again...only to have it reset back to low resolution.
