I am trying to set a mate reference on a part so that when it is placed in an assembly it automatically snaps to the desired feature (eg hole, flat surface whatever). the problem i am having is that they always seem to position themselves in the opposite orientation to how i want. to alleviate this problem i can simply click the reverse mate button but if i can avoid this it would be good for everyone else who uses these parts.

i have tried different features of the parts as well as the options: Any/Aligned/Anti-Aligned/Closest     but this doesnt seem to have any effect.
