    SPLINE for animal bone model

Maybe a projected curve, created from two sketches from two perpendicular planes could be a start.
Then create some profiles along this curve and use 3D-splines as guide-curves for a loft.
      See the attached file.

Hi, I'm attempting to model a bone from an animal (a bat) and am trying to determine the easiest way to do this. I am trying to make it as accurate as possible and since the bones are slightly curved with joints at the end and do not necessarily have a constant cross section, it is quite challenging. Should I draw a 3D spline as a sketch and go from there?
I'm not worried about the bone being hollow, just assuming it's a solid.
          Thanks!
