Wow ... that's a very open question.
What is your skill level with SW?
What training have you had?
Have you worked through the tutorials?
A Design Master would be the original design ... which should not be changed. A copy of the assy and its components should be made, and only those should be changed.
The components can be edited from within the assy, or after being opened in their own window.
You will need to ask more specific questions to get more specific answers.
Hi:Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I'm new to Solidworks and have some years of Pro-E, worked thru the Solidworks tutorials. However, let me try to be specific as much as I could so that you might be able to help me out.
When I opened the assembly, there ARE NO components named attached under the Design Tree. Usually, I can just pick the component from the assembly, open it and then modify whatever I need to do with it. However, this one assembly, it looks perfectly right (no names of components though), I selected the component I wanted, it just highlighted the surface or some features on the component. However, there are some components saved as .SLDPRT, but the features aren't there. For example, there are no SKETCH, EXTRUDE-CUT, etc. etc. under the Design Tree, so how can I modify the compoent when the Design Tree doesn't list the features that were used to generate the component? Please let me know. I really appreciate it.
