Quick Tip for Beginners -- calculating Volume for irregular shapes!

Question asked by 1-LDX4KK on Aug 7, 2009

Hi there, would like to share a simple tip -- from a beginner like me , to Solidworks beginners out there!

Say, you wish to find out the volume of material (or other quantites like surface area) of your irregular shaped part or assy, like the one shown below.

Solidworks can do that for you. Simply go to Tools --> Mass Properties, and you'll find the values you need! It's that simple!

If you made later changes, just hit the "Recalculate" button to calculate again.
