Create configurations in a folder of my choice

Why is it that the "user settings" set to "create configurations" dumps the models to a predetermined folder local to my computer and not to the location that is described in the "create parts in this folder:" selection? We work across a network and need to share the models. And no, I'm absolutely not interested in PDM or any other complicated IT server approach. I just want it to dump the files and there corresponding configurations into a particular folder of my choice.

No, I don't want the toolbox to reside on the network. I want it to generate the configured parts on our network. Instead the only outcome I have is for it to generate configurations of parts on my local computer. If you look at the "user settings" of the toolbox you have basically three options for the files. The first option is what I'm after yet it will not place the configured parts in the network folder for shared access. The behavior of the second option is good ("create parts in this folder") but why is this not extended to the first option for configurations?

If your toolbox is located on the network then it will generate the configurations where everyone can access them.

Couple of questions, are you wanting to generate configurations in different locations depending on the project?
Do others in your organisation generate parts/configurations?

From your post I don't understand the full extent of why you are wanting to do what your asking.
In my case, I work for different poeple and they have different part numbers so I'd like to be able to create configurations in different locations depending on who I'm working for and what the project is. At the moment I use the create single parts option and specify the location.
