Apparently SolidWorks has partnered with a computer reseller in the UK called Workstation Specialists. To my knowledge, this is the first partnership of this type for SolidWorks. Could this mean good things? Should I feel like puppy dogs and candy canes inside about this new venture? It is too early to tell. I need more info. We will be upgrading our systems within the next year. We have traditionally used Dell, with mixed results in the past. I was curious if anyone had anything to say about this company, good or bad. With them being an ocean away from the USA, I wonder what their response times will be like for on-site support. Any info would be appreciated.

It is talked about briefly in the July issue of Develop3D magazine. You can download the free PDF by signing up, I have never gotten any junkmail from them (at least not directly), I believe they just want to be able to count the number of subscribers:

I have used Workstation Specialists as they are now known and as CAD2, on both occassions the response has been very good.

The last work station purchased (May 2010) was their WS1400 entry level machine but with a mid level graphics card (Nvidia Quadro FX1800?). The hard drive died after 11 months and the whole machine was returned under warranty, the machine with new hard drive was returned within a couple of days. The service met with my requirements and the phone technical help was excellent.

In a previous company there were 6 CAD2 badged workstations and the supplier was on site the next day as there were major problems with the machines crashing using PDMworks. After completely reformatting all the work stations and reloading the software Solidworks finally admitted there was a software problem and not a computer one.
