We like to obtain the forces at a lug of a pressure vessel.
However we do not restrain the vessel at the lug but still need to
obtain forces at the lug due to internal design pressure etc. The
free body function seems to be the way to go but it gives us a
force of zero.
Please explain how this function works and if there is other way to
obtain the forces?
Usually your resultant free body force is zero (total force =
imposed force + reaction force = 0). However, I believe you can
isolate what portions of the model you're looking at when using the
force tool. That should do the trick.
