The description notes WILL work with PDM. Granted, the process is a little backwards to what you're accustomed to. If you read this post http://forum.solidworks.com/message/103899#103899 and study what I wrote, I'm sure you'll get it to work. If you place your text under "notes" during the check-in process, it will show up in the revision table the next time you check the drawing out. You can set PDM to manage the number of rows you want to see on the drawing as well. (Additional rows will show up automatically; this is not a manual process!)
My two complaints are:
Give it a shot. Let me know if you need help. Some people on these forums come across a little "STAUNCHY" and set in their "OLD" ways; unable to move beyond old habits and can not adapt to new methods. Don’t let their distaste for “everything about SW is broken” be a deterrent for you.
