I use ribs a lot and in general they are very robust but it would be good to have a few extra tricks in the bag to help workflow:

1. Being able to stop ribs automatically extending to the side walls. A lot of the time I need to draw a very specific rib network and have a rib end at a specific point. If there are no side faces to prevent the rib extending, it goes all the way to the side wall of the part. This is a pain as it means that you cannot use the rib tool in certain layouts without this happening (yes you can create them side on but doing them from the top is a lot easier in many situations).

2. Rib sketches that can be closed shapes rather than open curves (though if 1 could be done the need for this would diminish). The workaround I have for 1 is to not use a rib and use an extrude to body - but of course you cannot get the rib thickness at the face then (well you can but it requires an extra feature or to using draft).

3. Ability to start the rib offset from the sketch plane - just as you can with standard extrudes.

4. New kind of rib that has one end of the line or curve at the sketch plane or offset level, and the other side contacting the body face or at a specific height from the sketch plane - would be idea for hole boss ribs. Extending this you could add points onto the line or curve and set levels - the interface could be similar to the variable fillet.
