I was attempting to create a special BOM in a drawing to
supplement the true BOM. (it was to show the materials needed for a
prototype we are creating, and some of the items are substitutions)
I first exported the "real" BOM, and then opened it in Excel. Then, I tried, without success, to find a way to get this information back into SW. I found I could not past a copied set of cells from Excel into a general table. Doing so only inserted the entire text of the Excel table into one cell (only one cell at a time will work properly). I tried just pasting the cells, without first starting anything in SW, but nothing happened. Then, I just pasted the cells into a text box, and changed it to Courier font, and manually added spaces until the columns lined up.
There has got to be a better way! Am I missing something obvious?
[I found it! Pasting DID WORK! I didn't notice it at first because SW put the embedded Excel table way out in left field outside of the drawing sheet. It didn't show up until I did a Zoom to Fit.]
