Has anyone tried to install the PDM workgroup vault on a flash drive or portable hard drive?

This would really help because I'm the only one working in SW for a company and I do it all at home using my desktop. I keep the files on a flash drive that I can then take my laptop to design reviews at the office but file management is a huge issue as well as design control because I have to work locally in order to get good speed.
