Folks,

We have been using the HP ZBook Studio X360 G5 as our standard CAD laptop for the past few years, unfortunately HP is saying it has been discontinued/no longer produced depending on who you speak with.

I am going through some evaluations of 2 in 1 laptops to replace this type, and am currently evaluating a 30 day trial on a Lenovo ThinkPad P1 G3 with 32GB of ram and an Nvidia Quadro T200 video card.

For the most part it runs well, thought the touch "pad" part of it is a pain to some degree since it doesn't flip 360 which we liked.

I am running through a forced rebuild of the Punch Holder part that we obtained (same that the SolidWorks Performance test uses ) and once the rebuild hits the large pattern feature, it just hangs for around 1800 seconds, too odd, and if i suppress that feature, the rebuild is 2.8secs.

On my HP ZBook 17" which is 3+ years old, the forced rebuild is 44 secs.

So has anyone any experience with the Lenovo model I am testing, seen anything similar?

I am using SW2020 SP5 and "approved" graphics card driver, as well as trying the latest driver, same results.  Also installed the Nvidia control panel and forced windows to always use the nvidia driver.....

Any Thoughts?

Thanks,

Brian
