Hi all,

I am trying to dimension some parts in Solidworks drawings but every time I make new drawing, all of the dimensions are displayed in gray, not black. I am aware that when a dimension is driven (over-defined), it usually becomes gray. But none of my dimensions should be in driven state, they should all be driving because the part does not have dimensions to begin with. And normally the actual dimension number is fitted in between the dimension line, but in this case it puts the number above the line. I know how to change the color back to black, with either layers or system options, but I don't want to have to do that because driven dimensions has less editing features than driving dimensions. I can't edit the leader as freely and I also prefer the dimension number to be in-between the dimension lines than above the line (see "normal dimensions" in the image below. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

showing a difference between my dimensioning problem compared to normal dimensioning. My problem shows that all my dimensions are gray (driven?) when in non-driven states and the dimension number on top of the dimension line. The normal dimensioning case should be black lines with the dimension number in-between the line.

A gif on me dimensioning a part. The drawing does not have any dimensions to start and as I dimension, the dimensions are gray (usually in driven state), where normally it should be black (driving state).
