I know if I pack and go, it copies preferences, from the copied part, but what if I'm detailing multiple imported parts, yet I want all details settings to be the same. A 'Document Properties' for all parts setting, if you will.
This would be a drawing template. Your templates that you see when you choose to make a new drawing are found in Tools > Options > System Options > File Locations > Document Templates. The default templates that are used when doing things like imports are found in Tools > Options > System Options > Default Templates. Simply make a new drawing and change all of the document properties that you want, when you are finished you can then save the drawing file as a drawing template, you can then overwrite your defaults or have this as a new file.
Good. I was doing the way I thought was needed. (Must be something else.) Thanks!
It looks like Josh Helman took care of your question, but there are more details at Why aren't the changes I made at Tools > Options > Document Properties saved when I start a new Part? if you're interested.
Good info. Thanks! (I've been using SolidWorks since 2003, but sometimes I'm not sure whether my issue is 'operator error' or a new feature - or maybe I just never really knew the answer.
