i have solid 2020 with i5-4690 processor and 8gb ram
when i try to use the imported diagnostic tool on imported model
my computer crashes to desktop without living any error message.
the model was create on fusion 360
Important: this issue does not happening with every model
does anybody here encounter the same problem? does it mean my ram's computer is too weak
or is there really a problem in the file?

i have few more files with the same problem
if you'll tell me that the file is ok and i need to add more ram to my computer i won't upload the rest of files.
Shalit,.. if I import this as a "Solid" mesh.. (I have 16megs) it does not crash but will take about 10 mins to resolve (and it has two useless bodies you can delete..image) (so..maybe you need to wait longer?)
so,.. I'm not sure how you will be using this but my suggestion, is to import it as a "Graphic" (and you can also convert it to a mesh solid (not the same as above.. it can be useful.. but it creates a bunch of useless mesh bodies (which you can delete) Or.. you can edit this to reduce the mesh.. ?(image)
..the last image is Rhino3D.. although it notes it as Valid.. it also notes some issues with the file.
Again.. if you reduce the mesh count below 20K (it shows 89K).. in another program, it would be better to work with.

many thanks for the help but this wasn't what i meant , i want to ask if there is a chance you use the import diagnostic and feature works tool on this part yourself (you told you got 16 GB ram on your computer)
this way i will know for sure if my computer crashed to desktop because it hasn't enough ram in it , and also if the part can be fix with the import diagnostic tool .
my only intentions to this part is o be able to see it features (feature works and to add it as a part of assembly)

There are no features (other than straight lines and triangular planar facets). Were you expecting Extrude an Fillet features?
I would use only as reference in recreating the geometry.
BTW - you can use the Windows sequence Shift Win S to grab clear screen captures and the Ctrl V to Paste.
Hi Shalit,.. I have my import set to automatically diagnose and repair (preferred) but it would be the same if I have manually (if I want to play)..
The process is intensive but I don't believe I use more than 8 gigs? (it could have spiked > but I did not record it)
BTW,.. because these models have a lot of triangles (faces)... the other Mesh Body option I showed above is useful and less memory intensive if you just want to use the models for reference or for use in Assemblies.

2) i already tried the convert to mesh body but it didn't work as i wanted .
when trying to convert the stl mesh file i got this message :"grouping facets into facets failed for one or more bodies"
3) i'm asking you to test the file again because i'm considering add more ram memory for my computer and i want to know for sure if the fact that my computer crash to desktop connected to the Ram in it or i should really chose your way

You have mentioned FeatureWorks as your end goal.
Getting a good solid is indeed required before you can use FeatureWorks.
More RAM may help you achieve this first requirement.
HOWEVER!!
As Mr. Mather has already pointed out, FeatureWorks will be useless for this part. FeatureWorks does not have any ability to re-create features as they were created in the original software.
FeatureWorks uses a basic AI to examine the geometry of your model and tries to guess how that geometry might be created. It sorta kinda works for really simple, basic models. It would be entirely unsuccessful on your model.

Although I agree more RAM helps... the crash may be more inline with CPU overheating (test,.. seriously, put your laptop in a freezer?)
But.. for the later... if you have more of this large triangle/faced files in a assembly... yes... again.. more ram is better.
Going back to what is suggest though... (regardless of ram)... focus on what you will be managing.. that is... REDUCE what you have to manage now.... get a mesh program which can REDUCE that 89K to 10K triangles (90% reduction)... and try to heal/knit the issues in the mesh program first..... otherwise.. trying to get SW to clean up faulty surfaces and gaps, in a precise modeler, maybe a lost cause or loss in hair?
Or,.. manage the data using the Mesh Body option.

as I Saied my CPU is 3.50 GHZ .
according to the solid works system requirments an ideal Processor should be 3.3GHZ or higher so there is a little chance
that my processor got overheated.
and by the meaning test ,i expected that you run the import diagnostic yourself as a standard solid body.
i will take your advice , but first i want to be 100% percent sure that the fact my Pc crash related to the lack in ram memory.
one more thing
as i already told you- i tried the "convert to mesh body" before i got to this forum.
the result i got is the same as the last picture i upload.

so if i need to coming back to something i already did, i prefer to try something else first

Why not remodel from scratch as precise geometry - should only take a couple of hours.
This would return better quality and smaller file size.

..and yes, understand and see the model with the face errors (which shows it's solid)... but fails... this is not uncommon for a large imported mesh. You can spend hours on trying to clean them up but they are extremely taxing and flaky when used in SW.
The time spent on this is not worth it,... and as J. Mather just posted.... and in less then 15mins (image)

Did you create the part yourself (the last picture you upload) or did you decide to use the import diagnostic and feature works, just to see the result?

I often feel the need to clarify such things because I've seen so many people do some really stupid S#@! just because someone else told them to.
I mean when I was 9 or 10 I told my much older brother to feed a snapping turtle a cracker...he did and lost all the skin off the side of his thumb. While it was excruciatingly hilarious for a 9 year old it did drive home the importance of not telling people to do things unless you really want them to :-)
