Hey just got the student version from Titan CNC and I'm wondering. Can I use one license for two computers, only one computer turned on at a time as I own both of them. To clarify ONLY I will be using this license. It feels kind of unfair having to buy two licenses for one person right?

SWX/DSS is still in the business to make money and some time ago they stopped allowing s/w to be installed and used on many machines. If you had a license server, i.e. network share, then you could 'borrow' the license when you wanted to use it on another machine.
The deeper question might be - Why do you feel this is 'unfair'? You purchased one license, install it on one machine.
Well I still OWN the license copy right. So shouldn't I just be allowed to switch between machines as long as only I use it?

No one ever 'owns' software - read the EULA - it is just licensed to you (as long as you follow the rules or don't get caught breaking them.)

It depends on the EULA that everyone has to agree to so no one bothers reading it.

When you bought a license a few years ago, we could install it on two pc's, but this has been removed. Now it can only be installed on one pc and tracked from the pc's IP number. they don't allow two IPs. possibly to prevent abuse.

So install or use means something else. By activating and de-activating your license, single use of the software is regulated for stand alone licenses.

If your computer crashes before removing your license from your computer, you cannot install it on the new computer. I've had this incident twice. You inform the Solidwork Center that your computer is down and get a temporary license and you can install it under these conditions. Before forgetting, they want a written statement that your old computer will not install if you are going to install it on a new computer.
If you change computers frequently, you may be on the suspect list and you may encounter a check.
What is this "check". Is it that they take my license away? Then id rather but a second license to be honest.

I really don't know if your (student) license offers all the capabilities like the commercial does...
But the commercial can be installed on many computers, but only one can be activated. After using this license, the activation can be transferred back to the DS license server (takes 15 sec). Now, when you start SWX on any other computer, it checkes if it is activated, and if not, than get this from the DS license server. And so on...
If you "heavily" switch between computers, a license can be converted to a online license. So the only thing you have to do, is stay connected to the internet and stay logged in in the SWX portal. Switching the license between computers is done without any effort.
With this said, it's up to you, to try this out (or ask someone) if this is possible with your license to.
I'm pretty sure my student license wont allow you to use the online portal since ive seen other people claiming that you cant log in with a student account. And personally doesn't work for me either. But as long as I can just deactivate the license everytime I switch pc I guess its fine.
