I've been trying different means to get this shape up (6 -7 - 8) 
from loft sketches to the individual loft to mirror.
Now I'm thinking of having those arcs design one by one, using loft as below, but it just wont model it. I've tried it using Loft method as well, an it says it wont connect open loop to close loop.
Please advice. Did I do it wrong?
You might be complicating it too much. Try a small revolve, and then pattern.
For your method with the closed/open loop error, you have to use the Selection Manager (from the RMB within the Loft command) to select individual arcs within the closed loop (or make 3 separate sketches with one arc each).
I believe you are right. What I did instead was using revolution to a certain degree, with the inner core on another revolution.
Your advise helped me to look at it another way, thank you.
In this model, the small beads around the center egg were made with revolves, then patterned. In your case, you might revolve an ellipse for a better look.
