I am trying to open a Unigraphics part in Solid works and keep the dimensions and sketch relationships that originally defined the part.
I can open it and see and edit the sketch but they are all undefined.
The purpose of the model was to give us the existing tolerancing information as they build from the part not a drawing.
No unfortunately this is what I have currently done. It does provide the sketches but the original dimensional and relationship information is not there.
STEP 242 should give you those information.
But your "supplier" need to model properly for MBD.
I don't know/think tolerance in sketch is the way.

Can you elaborate. I have opened the step files as well and can get the same information as above. Sketches, planes and etc.. but not with their original dimensions or sketch relations. The customer is telling us this is all model driven which I understand that the tolerancing is in their sketch dimensions but none of that is importing.
I get undefined sketches and planes that I can edit but not what it was originally made to..

Thanks, but I believe we are crossed in communications. I am not trying to make one for them. They are sending one to me. I cant find a way to get this information off their unigraphics models.

Does you SW has MBD?
It come with Premium, I think.
Are you sure you STEP file is AP242?
Open it in a text viewer. Can you find AP242 in the first few lines?
This one is AP203
Contact your VAR. Maybe send the file to them.
From what I read on 3d interconnect, it will not bring in the MBDBinformation. (But the solidworks help on 3D interconnect is minimal.)
Yeah, I dont think it is possible now either. I have tried multiple times with different options. Maybe Solidworks should look into making this possible as more and more are going this route.
I think you need to use 3d interconnect, but I'm not sure even that will provide what you are looking for.
