See attached.
How do I fix this, how do I make it visible by default?
I can see the part if I click on it and choose "show hidden bodies."

I can't open your part (company firewall) but I'll tell you what I do. Hover over the part that is hidden (or where it would be) and press Shift+Tab.
(FYI, Tab hides, Shift+Tab brings it back.)

I believe that only works in assemblies. [EDIT: It does, I deleted these keyboard shortcuts.]
The OP's file is a single body sheet metal part with PEM nuts as merged extrudes:

Hello,
I think your appearance "matte steel" is affecting this.
I didn't look into its settings, but removing it restores the display behavior.
Before you remove the appearance, try changing the display type in the heads-up display from wireframe to something else.
The part displays again, but as you change display types, the behavior isn't correct unti you remove the appearance.

I've had instances where for some reason my body decides to hide. I'm not sure why and it's not because I've clicked anything. the first time or two it happened I was thoroughly confused, but now when it happens I just click on the solid bodies item in the tree and select unhide and everything is good in the world.
not sure if it's a bug or not
