every time when i try to flatten a cone it doesn't work... i make the sketch very simple to use edge flange so it is already a sheet metal part, but when i press the flatten feuture it collapses into an rectangle
Don't worry, it's easy to fix.
Just edit the Swept Flange Feature. You'll find a possibility to select the fixed face for the flat pattern there. Choose the long straight edge. This is what i did in my example (from the other thread).
YEAH! got it! so flatten along path and then click on material inside now i have te flatten cone
You could use tiny straight edge to have bullet proof model. Check the way I'm using.
thats another way to do it haha, but now the sides are 3 mm off placed. because the outer ring has to be the same as the cone it self. so we can save time when its rolled
That kind of cone rolled in two operations at the beginning the main cone created, after that rolling knuckle.
I found mistake in my model the knuckle was 10 mm thickness. At this time I created link between thickness of main cone and the knuckle (in equations tab). Hope that helps.
yeah great thanks! so i have to link both parts. could i add a relation too? just for time saving
I've had better luck making cones as revolves then converting to sheet metal.

There is way to play with configurations and equations.
I use workaround by
- creating cone
-offseting outer edge in flat pattern to have metal to create knuckle radius
- creating radius (knuckle) that I hide in flat pattern configuration
That's workway not suitable if You have openings in radius.
