Hello - I have made a sheet metal part (strut of a scissor car jack) to analyze in an FEA static study. When the meshing occurs, both sides of the strut should be orange to represent the shell characteristics. However, one side appears as grey (solid mesh) and the other appears as orange (shell mesh). Any ideas on why the strut isn't fully orange would be so appreciated!
Hi Enya Dodson,
In your simulation study tree, make sure that you treat the solid body as shell by right clicking on the solid body and select "define shell by select face". In the shell definition property manager, select the type of shell definition and select the faces to which the shell thickness has to be assigned and key in shell thickness value. And in the offset option, select the desired offset option on how you want to control the value.
When you mesh the model, you should be able to see the shell mesh applied to your model.
