I purchased a Student Edition license for 2021 and it took me to the 3DExpericence program. I clicked on the compass and scrolled down to Solidworks. When I click on that, it says the URL may be invalid. I don't understand how to get Solidworks to run. I used to purchase it from Studica and get a serial number, etc, but now the 3DExperience thing seems totally opaque. Please help!

Think of the 3DEXPERIENCE part as additional. The email you received should have provided a serial number and download instructions for SOLIDWORKS. You do not need 3DEXPERIENCE access to download/install/run your student version of SOLIDWORKS.
Once you get SOLIDWORKS installed and running, you can explore the 3DEXPERIENCE access if you like. It grants you additional roles and apps. xDesign and xShape, for example, are pure browser based CAD Apps which are granted to you freely with your Student purchase of SOLIDWORKS.
