I was trying to read a value that is modified to include different custom properties into one (in this case the Property Name is 'Material'):
I fail to get the value to be shown in the property tab builder though, because it shows the text expression only:
Is this one of those missing things or am I doing something wrong with the property tab builder?
You are doing nothing wrong. You are missing that property tab builder displays the value/text expression field not the evaluated value field. So, from my experience using this functionality, what you are trying to do, cannot be done.
I was hoping there was a different answer to that.
Is there an SPR for this already?
Sorry, I do not know if there is a SPR for this; I have not had a need to display the evaluated field.

So what is being asked for is a Property Tab Viewer...Which could be pretty easily coded into the existing Property Tab Builder.
I've often wondered why SW doesn't just populate the Windows file fields with these custom properties:
The only ones that appear are Last Saved and Open Time. These properties exist in Windows, why not have SW populate them? I think it'd literally cost SW nothing as far as resources and would be VERY simple to implement...I guess if we are asking for this functionality, it needs to be a checkbox under Options somewhere. I'm sure there are people out there that don't want the properties as part of their file systems.
But, I also think SW drawings should populate PDF Custom Properties when the drawing is saved as PDF...And nobody seems to care about that...
