I am trying to use a Move/copy body feature within Solidworks 2021 SP1 but I came across a strange situation as I could not find options for copying a selected body within Move/Copy body command dialogue box.
Am I missing something here?
I see that you have a body selected to move. What do you want to do with it (mate settings)? Because it looks like it doesn't have any planar faces, moving it with constraints will be limited. You could pick a vertex of it to then constrain it with another body or plane etc.
Also, it is a known long time deficiency with move/copy that you cannot make a copy of the body when using constraints; you can only do this when you use the translation option. The workaround is to do move/copy feature twice and on the second one, do you constraint move.
..did not know sp1 was out.. (..will install/test.... btw, copy is there in sp 0)
duh... I see it now,... it's because the "Constraints" option does not support "copy"
So does SW2021 add copy bodies to the constraint option?
Sry, no. The Copy option is only available when Translate/Rotate is active.
no..... it could be helpful as a option which allows you to copy/move and constrain the one or more of the copied bodies...... it would be nice (single op).. otherwise.. it's a two step process, copy/move w/o constraints) and copy/move w/constraints to move the copied part(s)...which does help with seeing it in the feature tree?
Okay, thanks for the confirmation Paul. My hopes were rising but now deflated...
