Hello,
I am a newbie here. I am about to buy my first Solidworks licence and I want to ask UK users if all sellers in the country are basically the same (price and service) or are some better than others? In my profile they have assigned assigned a re-seller but I am not dealing with them. Are the re-sellers regional?
The company called Solidsolutions has a current offer of a discount of up to 35%. Is this kind of thing genuine or is it like DFS sofas?
Thanks
Peter
I can not speak specifically about the UK since I am in the US, but I believe they are very much the same..
In the US, some areas have only 1 VAR and others overlap (My area (Texas) has 2 VARS that cover this region), so you may have more than one for your area.
The deals between VARS should be similar but may depend on what services or add-ons you request (again the price for the same software options or VAR services should be similar or the same). The basic pricing or specials are dictated more by SolidWorks Corp (I don't know how much leaway the individual VAR's have on changes to this).
December is usually the best time to get specials or deals for software combinations, add-in's, multi-year subscriptions, etc. It will probably depend on your area.
Biggest difference between VAR's is probably the responsiveness or expertise that the individual VAR has. If you are part of a user group there, check how other users feel about their VAR's. If you are not part of a user group, it would be good to look for one in your are, join and then ask the members for their opinions. (everything is virtual now and most (if not all) have Meetup web pages and you can ask questions of the members once you have joined (no cost to join).
You can also look at the profiles for people here on this forum and send personal "IM" messeges to them from this forum. (Click on their name, look for their general location / country (if they posted it) and user the "Message" feature on their forum page to send a private message).
