Can you be a little more specific in what you are trying to do? Post some screen shots. You can insert rows and columns in existing tables (right click to see).
Define "larger" please, but yes, it's certainly possible, and not difficult. If you're having trouble the cell sizes may be locked.
Unlike PowerPoint, the cells in SW tables can be linked to other SW data.
What are looking to put into this table?
What type of table is it? General? BOM? Cut list? Hole?
As Mr. Schroeder suggested, a locked row or column would prevent resizing.
Right click your row (or column) and select the Formatting menu item. This is where you can lock/unlock column widths and row heights. And where to set specific heights/widths other than by dragging.
