Why does solidworks resource monitor warn me about low system resources while it refuses to use more than 8Gb of 24Gb of RAM and CPU cores lie idle?
It once used 11Gb of 24 available while running simulation, but whatever I do on my computer it never used more than half of the ram.
Looks to me like either something is wrong with my setup or solidworks recommended system requirements are made up to sound like it needs a fancy workstation when advanced hardware isn't actually used ever!
But behaviors is very similar on all company workstations - 6 installations. Unlikely there is an obscure random problem on every single one... it seems like a lot of cash wasted on hardware that is never ever used!
This warning comes up for me, when the graphics card/the graphics RAM is almost full.
Yes, SolidWorks is not very good at using multicores, but it should use the maximum/a very high single core speed. The RAM is a simulation limitation though - so if you want to run a fairly large simulation and you do not have enough RAM - SolidWorks just refuses to do it.
