Good afternoon ,having an isue with PDM task. For a start i want to change a sheet format in a transition. This is ok you create TASK, right click button it works, however if its integrated into workflow it sets all my variables, then check in, then starts a task to change sheet format - and then nothing happens.
I TEST task Right mouse click, also through state change, both times file was check in. Task works i get notification that task is finished. My task is to change sheet format. To my understanding i need to check out this file change sheet format, rebuild, save and then check in. Can i do separate tasks for these problems, or i should use dispatch. What is the difference between dispatch and task add in?
As a test trigger it with a transition action that does not set any variables. The reason is that set variable also has to check out the file so it can change the variable value. I am thinking that Set Variable checks out the file and then tries to run you task that also checks out the file but cannot because it is already checked out. Then the check in is performed from the last Set Variable in the list of actions.
As i expected emty transition with only this task doesnt work also. Correct me if im wrong, but variable SET is used only for PDM variables such as Loged in user, these ones doesnt need check out.
Actually all set variables do requires a check out even if it does not make any changes to the files. It has to create a new version with the changes values for the variables. There is always a database update when variables change.
When you work with your programmer, there is a way they can debug task add-in to see where the problem is.
If the test is successful and moving the task to first of transition actions does not work, what you can do is squeeze in another state and automatic transition. The automatic transition would have the action to run the task. It would complicate your workflow, but since it is automatic transition the users would not have to do anything special.

What does the task list look like for it when it is triggered by workflow, does it hang on processing?
Does it work if there are no Set Variable actions for the transition? I suspect that issue is with setting variables requiring a check out and check in and your task does a check out to change sheet format and check in. If it does work without any Set Variables, try moving the task in the actions to run it first.
