Check Out File From PDM

When i check out a file from PDM, it is stored on the "C" drive (Or so i have been informed) while you work on it and then it goes back to the server when you check it in. If this is correct, where does the file reside when it's on the "C" drive?

We are having terrible speed issues, and our VAR is trying to help us, the only thing i see different for all my other companies is our network guy has all our windows stuff/documents/desktop as a profile on the server, we do have "C" drives which are all SSD's but i never can see anything being added to them while in use....

No one else has this question

Typically it is in what is called a "Vault View" and is placed in any location on the machine when installed.

You can find the path of the Vault View if it is not obvious, you can find the path in the registry here.

Files are copied to your vault view, There is a utility called view setup that creates it and can be wherever you tell it, but most people do have it at root level on C drive.

What is slow, is it working on the SOLIDWORKS files, or checking them out and in? If working on files, then it is most likely vault view setup on network drive. If it is checking out and in then issue is communications to database and archive servers. Database server is where metadata about the file is stored in SQL Server database and archive server is the PDM file server.

  The whole system is slow. Checking in and out takes ages, we have issues adding items to an assy. Rotating a model can be painfully slow. All our pc's are Intel Core I7, minimum of 64 gigs of ram, SSD Drives, and all have Nvidia Quadro cards with SW2019 SP 5.0. The only thing i see different to any other companies i work from is we use "profiles" instead of local users, when we have a worker leave his profile is removed from the server, on a few occasions i need the users access and it is replace in seconds, desktop, trash bin the whole lot......

    You can basically check the files just navigating to vault folder and writing cmd on address bar. On cmd just write dir /b /s > C:\temp\filelist.txt (this will list all files on vault to text file). But yes it saves them inside the vault folder structure exactly as they shows on your file explorer. Rotating model problems I would check from solidworks rx that you have correct graphics driver. Check also to disable antivirus and make sure to clear local cache on machine, I would see that also as a small risk if you don't clear that local cache, people can basically get those files there if they knows what they are doing.
