CG weirdness

One of my coworkers has an assembly that he placed a CG in and it was obviously WAY off.

We both assumed there was some hidden parts, something not showing etc. Couldn't find anything.

We then started turning S/A's off to see if one of them were way off. Found one. However when we went into that S/A the CG seemed to look fine. Finally I decided to try and do a quick manual CG and when I went to get the weight of this S/A it gave an error that one of the parts had no material assigned to it.

Changed the material and voila! fixed.

So why would the CG be messed up, WAY messed up on every S/A above the one that actually had the bad part but the one with the bad part, well CG displayed pretty close to where it should have been?
